Your Perspective of Reality?

Recently I wrote a philosophical essay for a contest at FQXi.org:

I realize that most people never really bother themselves with philosophical discussions or thoughts, but we all live by them.  Also, we each have to “dance with the one what brung ya’ “, meaning we have to work with what we’ve got.

My brain runs deep down the rabbit holes when it comes to philosophical reasoning, planes of reality, etc.  So… I wrote an essay and entered their contest.

Cycles

The BOTTOM of the current real estate cycle should be August 2015.
The next TOP should be October 2024.

Cycles are such a daily part of our lives that we don’t really say, “Wow!  Oh my gosh!” anymore.

Sure, the big things seem to jump out at us (births, deaths, stock market plunges, hurricanes, soaring heat, bitter cold), but we don’t always realize the subtle (slower or smaller) day-to-day changes of seasons, phases of the moon, weather, and life.

From time to time, I’ll publish some of my research in the Real Estate Market Cycle (18.3 years), the Economic Cycle (84 years), etc.

Hopefully, you’ll benefit from the research and be able to put it to work in your life.

Meaning, if you were able to know when the next TOP or BOTTOM of the real estate market cycle was going to be, do you think you would be able to make or save money for yourself, your family, or your business?

If you could see where things are heading in the next few years and next few decades, would you be able to put things in place to take care of your children and grandchildren?

So many times people say, “If I only knew then what I know now, then I would’ve…”  Well, understanding and utilizing cycles can help you do that.

Perspectives, Cars, Books, and Muses

Fixing family cars for the past few months has given me a different perspective on things in general.  It’s helped me to appreciate mechanics and their work.  It’s also helped me to approach problems and problem-solving from different angles than I’ve been used to with writing, publishing, and teaching.

While I’ve felt like I’ve neglected the publishing part of my life and my readers/fans, I’ve realized that (as with most things) balance is important.  Meaning – when I was pumping out a book a month, I wasn’t necessarily taking care of every other part of life that needed tending to… so, I’m making up for it now!  🙂

That’s fine – once the pendulum swings back toward the middle of the road, more books will come out of the mind and go online.  For now though, writing blog entries will perhaps satisfy the muses and readers’ requests for more content.

Truth Isn’t Just the Essence

Truth isn’t just the essence of words passed on from one person to another, it’s the passing of justice, love, and meaning in life.  That passage of knowledge from one generation to the next is what preserves us as humanity and carries us glowingly forward, into the darkest of nights.

When people step aside from the fears that they carry into the dream world of sleep, they live beyond measure in the eyes of those around them, when actually, they have simply done what it is that they were called to do.

The beauty of it all is that when we live out the dreams that we have in our hearts, angels can be heard rejoicing in the rafters of heaven and solidly pounding in our hearts, here on earth.

May they break the beams and careen cedars from their resting places into the firmament by night, so that all may hear and know.

Beauty rests and waits for those who are ready to hear, see, and believe.  Without those bold, blessed few, masses will drive themselves directly off of cliffs and into the chasms that lie beneath.  By pursuing life away from death, we participate in one of the most fascinating things in existence.

Mind Expansion, mind control? – Storing Data in DNA

If you encoded all of Shakespeare’s works into DNA and injected it into a person, could you turn that person into another Shakespeare?

Would the same work with music, art, inventors, athletes, etc?

Could the concept be used to make people smarter – by adding tons of data to their minds or bloodstreams?  Dumber – by taking away knowledge from their DNA… Thought Thieves?

EXTERNALLY, those influences are already in place: tv media, print media, songs, social engineering.

This would move the mind expansion or mind control INTERNALLY, so would it become more powerful in either direction?

The Charge (poem)

We stand, internally commanded –
With a charge –
Pushing back
Against the battle of the day.
We feel ourselves falter
And know that if we give in
To the moments that thrust against us,
We will fail.

With utter bite of frustration,
We set ourselves against the commanding forces
That slam themselves into the walled partitions
That separate us from a momentary glimpse of light.
The darkness settles in
As we feel pulled down
Toward the ground
And perhaps giving away
The precious high ground
We so desperately fought to win.

But…

A shifting of the feet
And repositioning of weight
Gives to us
A glimmer of hope
In the fight for our lives.
The pressure mounting in all the wrong places
In our legs, backs, and shoulders
Has now been eased –
And we realize that maybe…
Just maybe…
We have a chance.

The gate posts hold fast and so do we
As the morning light begins to flicker
From behind the eastern mountains…
The ogres fall back
And retreat from the coming brightness.

The war is over.
